The stock fuel system in most cars, with an appropriate ECU upgrade (RIPP BRAT Box), can support a few pounds of boost, however the first component in the system that needs replacing is usually the stock fuel pump. Please refer to our fueling section for more info on the fuel pump we offer. It is a stock replacement pump which is an easy bolt on and can support over 500HP.
Your next limitation in the fuel system comes from the injectors themselves. The stock fuel system uses two small cc injectors for primaries which is sufficient under normal driving conditions. Those injectors, maxed to their extreme limit (100%), will support approximately 3psi at stock fuel pressures. You don’t want to push the injectors beyond 80%-85% duty cycle though for reliability reasons. To support more power on street driven cars, we recommend using additional injectors.
For those serious about performance and looking for more power and more precise tuning, but not necessary interested in the hassle larger injectors can pose; cold start issues, iritic idle, tune fluctuation we offer our Supplemental Fuel System (SFS).
The RIPP Supplemental Fuel System (SFS) is a universal-additional fuel injector set up that simply adds on to your factory fuel injection system by adding 2 additional fuel injectors. The SFS can be used in conjunction with our Black Box controller or with a host of additional injector controllers found on the market today. With the addition of the RIPP SFS, your fuel system becomes ever expandable as you no longer need to worry about larger injectors, simply tune in the supplement units. As boost comes on the injectors will trigger and add the fuel needed to compensate for the additional air. If you should decide to run more boost or bolt on a larger turbo, change engine set up by bumping displacement or even change vehicles, the RIPP SFS can easily adapt.
The addition of supplemental injection is not new, in fact it ahs been around a long time, and the industry is seeing that as stock ECU’s get more and more complicated, its getting harder to piggy back them and try and tune them for larger injectors. The RIPP SFS will allow you to slip in between the cracks and add fuel, in a completely map-able fashion through our Black Box program. Simple plug in the cable launch the program and tune as needed, without interrupting any of the stock run cycle’s.
Keep in mind that when you install larger injectors in a stock environment and try to tune into modern day ECU’s not all parameters are tunable, and in fact many “limp home modes” and cold start functions are not map-able in real time and require more serious fuel tuners. The SFS will not affect any of that as the stock injectors are retained and therefore the ECU will trim them as needed during cold start or idle in traffic, it only when you press the gas and the boost rises that the supplemental injectors are triggered making it completely user friendly. |
